This is an exciting role for a mission-aligned operating officer, interested in being part of a social-impact brand and technology platform.
You are passionate about promoting health and happiness, in individuals and in societies, and the role digital solutions can play in amplifying access to such outcomes.
You are also excited about partnering with other CXO functions in order to lead operational initiatives across verticals, and the company at large.
Yours will be the operational voice of the brand, inspiring policy, managing and enhancing operational procedures, improving team productivity, building and leading an operations team, managing human resources, ensuring that company procedures align with regulatory standards, and owning communications under your function.
Seniority Level: Executive. Reports to the CEO.
Employment: (Founding) Member, meaning that you will be the first, with or after the CEO, to manage this role, and will be responsible for building infrastructure from the ground up.

Job Functions: Operations Officer
Job Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations;
Ensuring all operations adhere to health and safety regulations;
Working closely with leadership to set and track goals, plan and execute business strategies, and identify and mitigate risks;
Developing and implementing operational policies and procedures to ensure the business operates smoothly;
Identifying operational bottlenecks and inefficiencies and implementing necessary changes;
Managing procurement processes and coordinating material and resources allocation;
Assisting in budget preparation and expense management activities;
Developing strategies to improve the overall quality and productivity of internal operations;
Handling operations and business customers’ questions and complaints;
Overseeing recruiting, hiring, and payroll, including benefits, regulations, compliance, tax, time and attendance, performance benchmarking, HR policy, performance reviews and tracking;
Working with hiring managers on staffing needs, work with legal on employee contracts, own public job descriptions, develop and manage hiring channels, manage records, manage termination processes and procedures;
Managing employee guidelines, handbooks, and onboarding programs;
Training new staff members and scheduling shifts;
Ensuring that the above are informed and / or executed in alignment with brand and community policies, aspirations, and mission statement to the extent that is reasonably feasible and achievable.
Responsibilities in detail (including but not limited to)
The role of the Operations Officer is to ensure the smooth functioning of the business by making sure that operations are well-coordinated and productive, and by managing its people:
Ensure the business is well-coordinated and productive by planning and implementing effective processes;
Ensure that the business’ people are set up for operational success, through efficient onboarding, the development and implementation of internal platforms and processes, management of Company communications, and continued-learning and development programs;
Coordinate with leadership to set strategic goals, and then develop and implement operational policies and procedures to deliver on and track impact metrics on those goals;
Oversee and evaluate day-to-day operations for quality, productivity, and impact; make necessary adjustments for improvement in operational performance;
Manage relationships with partners and vendors;
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations, and with health, commerce and technology standards as needed;
Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans;
Provide guidance and leadership to operational staff;
Prepare and present operational reports;
Manage and optimize resource allocation;
Oversee and manage the human resources function.
Skills and Abilities
Proven work experience as an Operations Officer or similar role;
Familiarity with local, state, and federal laws and regulations under the function, operational safety regulations, relevant labor laws, and relevant financial vehicles such as employee stock options, as relevant;
Experience with operational processes, analysis, and reporting;
Experience with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training staff;
Experience leading teams;
Ability to build a department and associated programs from the ground up;
Understanding of business functions including Finance, Legal, Product, and Marketing;
Excellent organizational and leadership skills;
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
Good communication and people management skills;
Working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics;
Proficiency with operations and human resources software;
Ability to strategize and solve problems.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management or a related field;
10+ years’ experience in a similar role in a corporate entity, preferably with some experience or familiarity with startups;
Interest in health, education, human, and/or social disciplines preferred;
Flexibility, willingness to work on a broad variety of operational matters;
High integrity, well-organized, and able to manage numerous projects simultaneously;
Experience with internationalization preferred;
Tech start-up experience preferred.
